Surface Gallery - website, logo design & branding

The Surface Gallery is an independent, volunteer-run art gallery located within Nottingham’s burgeoning Creative Quarter. We started working with the Surface Gallery team from the early part of 2014, to come up with a new logo design, branding, and build a new website to reflect their growing presence as a contemporary arts destination.

After making a couple of visits to the gallery, and a briefing from the team, we got started on some ideas for the logo and website layout. And, a few revisions later we came to a finished look that captured the youthful, enterprising and textured quality of the Surface Gallery.

Once Tash finished the logo, she styled the site elements, creating a custom background and buttons to produce a unique look in line with the branding. Yesh did much of the groundwork, working closely with the Surface Gallery team to help them understand the intricacies of the backend.

Whilst visiting Surface Gallery we also had the chance to make a short pixellated animation for them to use on their website, which showed the directions to the Surface Gallery from the centre of Nottingham’s creative quarter. Overall we’re really happy with the results and can’t wait to see what the Surface Gallery have in store for gallery goers and artists in the future. Check out the finished website here, or even better head down to Nottingham and follow the directions in the film!
