Mad about the house & Mad about your house: logo refresh and website

Interiors and property writer Kate Watson-Smyth pens for The Financial Times, The Independent and Houzz.com.  She also keeps an excellent blog called Mad About the House - one of the most popular interiors sites around.

We had been talking about updating the design for a while, but first we turned our attention to Kate's new project Mad About Your House.

Kate describes it best. "When I set up my blog, I quickly found that in addition to enjoying the images and inspiration, readers were constantly asking me for advice on their own homes. Sometimes they needed styling tips, often they simply wanted to know where to source particular products. So the idea for Mad About Your House was born. The core concept is really simple: You send me your Pinterest board and I'll tell you where to buy it."

We also chose a range of fonts for both sites, from the headers to body text, to match the logo styles. Once the first site was completed we customised the blog to match, removing any clutter to focus on the excellent content. One site is a traditional blog with daily updates, the other a showcase for Kate's new business.

We decided to retain some of the existing brand colours, but re-build the logos and icons for both sites, so the styling would be consistent. Keeping it simple with Kate's trademark pink and grey, the results are eye catching without distracting from the great content across both sites.
